Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is a gateway to enter into the profession of Chartered Accountancy. CPT is open for candidates who have registered to Common Proficiency Course with the Board of Studies of the Institute on or before the last date and have appeared or passed or going to appear in April/May, 2017 in 12th class or equivalent recognised examination. Important Update – CPT Exam Form Date Extended


CA CPT Exam Form Dec 2017 will Startered from 4th October, 2017 (10.00 hrs) to 25th October, 2017 (17.30 hrs) without Late fees. Forms will be submitted by following link http://icaiexam.icai.org

As per ICAI Official Notification – Applications for admission to Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is required to apply online at http://icaiexam.icai.org from 4th October, 2017 to 25th October, 2017 and remit the examination fee online by using either VISA or MASTER Credit / Debit Card. It may be noted that there is no provision for acceptance of application forms after 25th October, 2017 with late fee.

The aforesaid Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is open only to students registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for the Common Proficiency Course on or before 30th June, 2017 and fulfill the requisite eligibility conditions

Eligibility for CPT Exam Form Dec 2017

Eligibility Requirements to appear in CPT (Regulation 25D (1) may be referred to for full details).

A candidate shall be eligible to appear in Common Proficiency Test scheduled to be held in Dec, 2017, if he/she has:

  • i) Either passed or appeared in  the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 examination) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto and has complied with such requirements as may be specified by the Council from time to time
  • ii) Registered for/switched over to Common Proficiency Course with Board of Studies of ICAI on or before 30th June, 2017 and
  • iii) Revalidated his/her registration to Common Proficiency Course (as applicable): (CPT Registration is valid for a period of 3 years)

Important Note  – Uploading of Scanned copy of the Declaration: Candidates may note that uploading of Declaration is a mandatory requirement. For doing this, before proceeding to fill up the exam form, candidates are advised to download the format of certificate from (Click Here Give LINK HERE), fill in the particulars, get it attested from your Parent/Guardian and Head of Educational Institution / Member of ICAI/ Gazzetted Officer , scan the same as a Jpg/Jpeg file of size 100-300Kb/ 200DPI resolution and keep it ready for uploading. While uploading, candidates are advised to take an undertaking that the image being uploaded pertains to the June, 2017 exam.

Step 3: Online payment of Examination fee

For Online filling of Examination application form for appearing on 17th Dec 2017 CPT (PP Mode), a candidate has to remit a fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) for opting centres in India, US$ 300/- for Abu Dhabi (UAE), Doha, Dubai and Muscat centres and INR 1700/- (Rupees One Thousand Seven Hundred only) for Kathmandu centre. Fee should be remitted using Online Payment gateway facility with Visa/Master/Maestro Credit/Debit Card.

The exam fee waiver is applicable for such candidates who have been allotted a permanent Concession Card for that course/exam and till the validity of that permanent concession card. No exam fee is charged from such students.

Step 4: Submission of Printout of Online Application Form to ICAI

After successful Online payment, candidates can download the PDF of the Online Application Form from his/her dashboard and are required to take a print out of the application form from http://icaiexam.icai.org and take the following further course of action before sending it to the Institute:

Situation 1 – If Photograph & Signature is not appeared in the PDF

Applicants whose photograph / signature are not appearing on the PDF have to affix their photograph & sign the PDF before necessary attestation and dispatch/submit the same to Exam Section.

Affix Photograph & Signature:

  • If the Photographs are not appearing in the pdf then Paste two latest photographs of the candidate (pass port size – 3.5X4.5 cms.)– One attested and one non-attested.
  • If the Signatures are not appearing in the pdf then Sign at specified places
  • Get it countersigned by parent/guardian at the specified place (in any case)
  • Get the Application Form attested by a Chartered Accountant or a Gazetted Officer or Principal of School/College and
  • Send the printout of the Online Application Form without folding and Superscribing the envelope as “Online Application Form for 17th Dec, 2017 CPT Exam” by Speed Post/Registered Post to the Joint Secretary (Exams.), Examination Department, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, ‘ICAI Bhawan’, Indraprastha Marg, New Delhi – 110 002, so as to reach him on or before 1st May, 2017 upto 5.30 P.M.
  • Printout of Exam Application form (PDF) received after 1st May, 2017 will not be entertained under any circumstances. Therefore, candidates are advised to fill up the exam forms online at an early date to avoid last minute technical glitches and send the PDF form generated at least 3-4 days in advance of the last date

Please Note – Candidates are advised to send printout of their online application form by Speed Post/Registered Post and not through Private Courier Services or Ordinary Post. No responsibility for late/non-delivery will be taken by the Institute.

Situation 2 – If Photograph & Signature is appeared in the PDF

Important Clarification Applicable from June 2017

Those candidates whose photographs and signatures are appearing on the PDF, need NOT send the printout of the PDF to Exam Dept.

IMPORTANT : Candidates are advised NOT to paste the photographs over the photographs already appearing in the PDF from the system (based on the respective candidates photograph and signatures appearing in the previous Exam forms submitted by him) or sign over the signature already appearing in the PDF from the system as NO cognizance of the same will be taken of and such changes will be summarily ignored.

Step 5: Address for Send Printouts to ICAI

After Affix Photograph and signed the examination form, you will require to send the printout of form at ICAI via Speed post or Registered Post. CPT Exam form is sent to following address

Use of Calculator in CPT Dec 2017

Candidates will be allowed to use battery operated portable calculator in CPT. The calculator can be of any type with upto 6 functions, 12 digits and upto two memories. Attempt to use any other type of calculator not complying with the specifications indicated above or having more features than mentioned above shall tantamount to use of unfair means. Scientific Calculator is not allowed.

    • You can’t be eligible for CPT June 2017 attempt if you register now. the last date for eligibility was april 5.But if you register now you can be eligible for december 2017 attempt, You can get more time for study .     • You can’t upload declaration for before filling examination form. You need to upload it while filling examination form. There is a option to upload declaration form in the very end of the online examination form you need to click on it and then select the scanned examination form……GoodLuck.

      Please call to your regional office and tell them your fees acknowledgment no or other details as they required and get your registration number and then fill your exam form…

    • You Can’t send more than one application form in one envelope…. You need to send three exam forms in three different Envelopes​.

    • Axis bank account is not required to make payment. If you have cards of Visa/ maestro/ master card provided by any bank, you can make payment by clicking on your card type and giving card details.(i.e. card no.,expiry date, cvv no. and account holder name) Then otp will be sent to mobile no. of account holder in sms. you have to enter otp to confirm payment. Suppose if your card has no expiry date, you need not fill the box provided.

      ICAI not send any password at your mail address, if you have your acknowledgement number then call to your icai regional office and get your registration number and also know your registration status.

    • Sir, As per guideline of CPT examination form, it is mentioned that “Affix Two Photographs & Signature: Paste your Photographs, Sign the form using Black Ink Pen and get the form attested by Principal/Member of the Institute/gazetted officer, as mentioned in the form printed in Step 3 above. One photograph should be attested and the other one not attested”. But still here, this is not clear that who will attest photo of candidate. Photo will be self attested or by any authority.
      Please help.

    • Hi Bhakti

      If you can find correction option then correct it and if you can not find correction option then fill the form and Download PDF, You can highlight the area wrongly entered/appearing in the PDF and mark the correction without disturbing any other area. Also SEPARATELY send a signed application quoting the registration number and control number intimating the correction required. Superscribe the envelope with as “Request for Correction CPT-JUNE, 2016”.

  44. My son got registered in ICAI for CPT in July, 2015 while doing 12th Std. intending to write CPT in June, 2016.
    He is eligible to write CPT in June, 2016 only as his HSC (+2) exams are going on now only.
    Between July, 2015 and June, 2016 there was December, 2015 CPT.
    Because of this, now will he have to do anything like re-validation of registration etc ?

  46. i am registered with ICAI on 16 th april 2015 by paying 6000/- to give CA CPT exam in dec 2015 but i failed so i want to give second attempt in june 2016 so i have to pay 6000/- for registering again or direct i can sit for exam by paying exam fees. please help me with the procedures.

    • Hi Babar

      In case you do not send the print out of your on-line exam form, issue of admit card to you will be held up. Absence of your photograph and signature will create difficulties in issue of your admit card and result card. Hence you are advised to send the print out of your on-line application with your photo duly affixed, signature, attestation etc, in your own interest, so as to avoid these difficulties/correspondence at a later date

      and 31st October 2015 is last date for Receipt of online exam forms at ICAI

      • Sir, I had sent my CPT Exam Form on 8/10/2016 via Registered Post ( Track No. RP601303242IN) But there is no update on post department website after 13/102016
        How I will know that my form reached or not. and also still my photograph & signature is not showing on CPT exam site. Please guide me.

      Yes you are eligible for June 2016 Exams and please fill exam form for June 2016, Keep visit to our site we will updated you when Exam forms are available for June 2016 exams.
